The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) has confirmed a discovery that could change the way we look at the so-called Buga Sphere, the mysterious object that landed in Colombia and was captured in a video that went viral worldwide.
After thorough analyses conducted in the university’s labs, scientists detected the presence of optical fibers inside the sphere, definitively ruling out the idea that it could be mere reflections or optical illusions.
Specifically, 52 optical fibers were identified in an area of just 2 square millimeters, with diameters ranging between 40 and 350 micrometers. The analyses were carried out using high-precision instruments and followed a rigorous scientific protocol.
UNAM—an institution widely respected internationally—has thus validated the technological nature of the sphere, opening entirely new scenarios.
According to engineer Rodolfo Garrido, directly involved in the analysis, the optical fibers might have been inserted to perform advanced sensing functions: temperature, humidity, pressure, water, soil, and even biological tissue.
